Summary
Permission was granted in November 2024 for the introduction of a new dwelling within the grounds of a grade II listed building in Norwich City Centre on a sloping site adjoining an area of land know as The Wilderness. The new dwelling was designed to draw influence from the forms and materiality found within the immediate surroundings, which included part of Norwich's historic city wall (a scheduled monument) located close to the Site. Owing to the topography a split level approach was adopted along with the intention to integrate the new building into nature given the unique qualities of the location, including the adjacent woodland. A good dialogue was established with Norwich City Council's planning and conservation officers who were supportive and helpful throughout the planning process. The Site was constrained and presented a number of challenges. The design response is informed and innovative and contributes positively and pro-actively to the architectural diversity of Norwich City Centre.

Impact of the proposals on the character and appearance of the Norwich City Centre Conservation Area
-

-
The impact of the proposals on the setting (and thereby the significance) of Carrow Hill House, a grade II listed building.
