HCUK Group worked alongside Grow Design Studio to obtain listed building consent for the extension and modest internal alteration of this late seventeenth century, grade II listed, property. The extension covers 1.5 storeys and compliments the existing building, reflecting the distinctive gambrel roof form of the original cottage. The use of a harmonious modern material palette allows for old and new to sit respectfully side-by-side, ensuring that the original built form and roof profile remain appreciable.

The scheme has secured the long-term use of this small cottage as a family home without harm to its architectural and historic significance.

The LPA considered that the proposals "would not materially impact the identity of the street scene, scale and character of the area, and its layout, height, mass and overall elevational design would would be in harmony with the character and appearance of the surrounding area".
